Biodiversity protection with riparian buffers at Grayson Riverbend Preserve

Overview

The Grayson Riverbend Preserve contains an ag field surrounded by a remnant riparian forest. This strip of riparian environment acts as a buffer between agricultural lands and the surrounding area. Riparian buffers filter out contaminants from agricultural lands and protect water bodies from pollutants. Our study has two aims: 1) to compare biodiversity and community composition between the fallow corn field as it transitions into the riparian buffer zone, and 2) to correlate extensive remote sensing data with eDNA analysis.
